When a client engaged our services for multiple projects across the Hawaiian Islands, the hotel assessment presented unique opportunities for integrated planning. The initial scope focused on scanning the restaurant and gymnasium facility for as-built documentation and Revit modeling.
During the preliminary site assessment, discussions with the client revealed broader facility planning requirements. Based on our analysis of their long-term development goals, we recommended expanding the survey scope to include comprehensive site analysis.
Strategic Scope Expansion: The work was modified to include the main hotel lobby, administrative offices, site conditions around both structures, and the pool facility with associated bar area. This integrated approach provided significant cost efficiencies compared to multiple mobilization events.
Project Execution: Field work required four days of comprehensive scanning and photographic capture across three primary structures and associated site features. During the modeling phase, we incorporated visible guest room balconies to provide complete building envelope data for future planning requirements.
Results: The comprehensive deliverable package enabled the client's architectural team to eliminate three weeks of field measurement and preliminary drafting. This efficiency gain allowed their design professionals to focus resources on design development rather than existing conditions analysis.
Professional Impact: The integrated approach demonstrates how strategic scanning methodology supports architectural workflow efficiency while providing thorough records for long-term facility planning.
